Forecast Discussion
Some warmer weather is likely this weekend before a large arctic plunge during the start of the new week. Tonight, clouds will build as a large cold front approaches from the west, and a steady rain will be likely through the morning of Saturday. Rainfall could total to a quarter of an inch, and additional snowpack melt may make for pooling water on surfaces. This rain will taper off before noon, leaving cloudy conditions and temperatures to begin dropping. A few snow flurries are possible on Sunday morning as a quick low pressure moves through, though this will only be a dusting.
An Extreme Cold Watch is currently in effect for our area for late Sunday night through Wednesday morning. Temperatures are expected to rapidly drop Monday, which will reach a high near 14 degrees, and a low near -1. Tuesday and Wednesday will warm a bit, with highs near 20, but the morning lows will push down to around -5 degrees. Additional 5-10 mph winds will make for dangerous wind chill as well. These are very hazardous conditions to be outside in! If possible, minimize the amount of time spent outside and dress warmly. Additionally, continue to be alert for any warnings issued by the NWS.
