Forecast Discussion
Another potent mid-latitude cyclone will be responsible for active weather moving back into the region over the next 24 hours or so. A cold front will be approaching the region tomorrow, bringing increasing clouds and showers to the region. Additionally, ahead of the front, a strong pressure gradient will lead to gusty winds, with gusts to 30 mph or higher across the area Thursday. Some minor clearing will occur Thursday night, however as the initial cyclone occludes, the front will stall out south of the region. This will serve as an area of convergence that allows rain to redevelop across the region Friday evening, and continue through into Saturday. This rain may be heavy at times, and could bring heavier accumulations of 1″ or greater across the region. Temperatures will finally cool down after the passage of this system and frontal boundary by Sunday, with temperatures retreating back to near normal for December.
