Forecast Discussion
A weak shortwave feature aloft will bring some precipitation today and into tonight. Its low pressure is situated over the Great Lakes region as it begins to trek further northeast. Showers and a chance for a thunderstorm is possible for the rest of the afternoon as well as heading into tonight. Once this passes through, somewhat drier conditions set up with brief higher pressure for Wednesday before the next cold front expected late on Thursday. Friday into the weekend, there is a risk for some convection to occur as we see our temperatures and dew points begin to climb especially in the afternoon hours of the day. The chance for these afternoon thunderstorms throughout the weekend is attributed to a factor of this convection and dominant southwesterly flow pumping in the moisture as well as warmer temperatures.
