Athens is currently under a Heat Advisory until 8 PM Friday (tomorrow.) Drink plenty of water and take care when outdoors.

The blazing heat will continue through the rest of the work week, with possible triple digit heat indices remaining a threat until the sun goes down on Friday. The only relief will be a small chance of rain showers tonight, and a slightly larger chance of a system moving through that potentially includes some thunderstorms Friday afternoon. But models disagree on what form this will take, so stay tuned for further updates.

Fortunately, by Saturday, the heat will be gone for the moment, with highs struggling to reach eighty degrees. Rain seems likely on Saturday, but other than that, the weather for Labor Day weekend looks excellent, and every time heat breaks as summer is waning, the harder it will be for equivalent temperatures to build up again for the rest of the year.
