NWS has a Special Weather Statement concerning hazardous weather conditions that includes Athens, Ohio. This statement is in regard to areas of valley fog developing with the expectation to expand. In the thickest part of the fog, visibility is expected to be below a quarter of a mile. Allow yourself some time to slow down and safely make it to your destination. These areas of fog are expected before 9am this morning.

Tonight, the severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center has Athens under a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe weather. Tuesday, Athens severe weather outlook is supposed to downgrade and be along the line of thunderstorms and a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. Damaging winds are a concern along with flooding in low lying and flood prone areas.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the low to mid 80s for the next couple of days while nighttime temperatures are expected to fluctuate from the high 60s to the high 50s over the next few nights. Precipitation is expected for tonight and Tuesday with wind speeds continuously picking up until Tuesday night.
