Forecast Discussion

Southeast Ohio is currently in the scope of a significantly more active weather pattern this week, with the chances of severe weather both tonight and tomorrow night. Today, expect a humid and muggy day we we get a surge of moisture in from the Ocean, which when cooled off in the evening will spawn a round of thunderstorms, with some severe storms expected. The main threat for tonight’s storms is going to be severe winds, but the chance of hail is also possible during this event. Tornadic activity is not very likely, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. For both tonight’s and tomorrow night’s severe weather events, please stay up to date with the Nation Weather Service offices in both Wilmington, OH and Charleston, WV, as well as Scalia Lab’s social media to stay up to date with watches and warnings.

Tomorrow we’ll see showers throughout the morning, and then another round of severe storms in the evening. Tomorrow’s event would appear to be more potent than tonight’s, with a greater wind and hail risk, tornadic activity for tomorrow is difficult to forecast at this time, but it would appear unlikely once again. Please keep yourself updated with the forecast trough both of these events.

Following tomorrow, we’ll see a streak of active rainy weather persist with a slight break from severe weather in favor of milder systems. We will see a perfectly-timed break from storms on Independance Day, where we should have a beautiful summer day for everyone to enjoy your festivities! Please keep our Midday Forecaster, Colby, appeased by being careful with fireworks and exercising safety precautions in order to not create large-scale fire events.
