Forecast Discussion

A low-pressure system will move through the Great Lakes as we head into the weekend. A cold front is expected to arrive Friday afternoon, bringing periods of rain and a few thunderstorms by Friday evening. Winds will remain breezy, with gusts up to 30 mph throughout the day.

With the potential for stronger storms, the SPC has issued a Marginal Risk for parts of the Ohio Valley region, which includes Athens, OH.

A second cold front pushes through on Sunday, bringing another round of rain and contributing to a sharp drop in temperatures. Overnight lows Sunday night are expected to fall below freezing, and light snow showers will be possible from Sunday night into Monday morning.
