Forecast Discussion
A system will make its way towards the state today and tomorrow. While we may see some sprinkles of rain today, the bulk of the rain will be seen Saturday evening into Sunday as the system finally arrives to the state. Winds will be quite gusty today into Sunday, lingering into Monday as this strong system continues to influence the region. The SPC has put Athens under a slight risk for severe weather (2/5) tomorrow, but the brunt of the storms will likely impact Saturday evening into Sunday morning. The primary threat will be severe wind gusts, but hail and maybe an isolated tornado are also possible. By Sunday, this system will rapidly exit the region, leaving behind calmer weather and clearer skies, especially by the start of next week. While temperatures will drop back down into the lower 50s on Sunday, temperatures will warm through the week as calmer weather remains over the state.
