Throughout the day today in Athens, Ohio we are expecting to see cloudy skies and evening thunderstorms as a cold front begins to make its way into the region and interact with moist, unstable air. Within these storms, we may see localized heavy downpours and strong gusts of wind. Overnight on Monday, we can expect cloudy skies to persist, but we will see intermittent showers that will carry into the day Tuesday. In the early evening on Tuesday, a cold front will be passing through, further advancing rain showers that will begin to subside in the overnight hours as a high-pressure system begins to establish itself to the west. The passing of the cold front will drop our overnight temperatures back into the 60s. This high pressure and upper-level ridge formation will help to clear the skies for days as we see a gradual warming happen through the rest of the week to bring temperatures back into the 90s.
