Forecast Discussion
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Flood Warning for Athens and the surrounding areas. An area of low pressure is working its way into the region bringing lots of rain with the chance of a few thunderstorms. A few of these storms have the chance to be strong to severe. With the excessive rainfall expected, a flood watch is in effect until the morning hours of April 8th. The hocking is expected to reach 22ft by Sunday which will cause excessive flooding in areas along the river. In addition to this, it’s important to exercise caution in low lying areas which are prone to flooding. Expect showers and cloudy skies for much of the weekend with skies clearing at the start of the week bringing lots of sunshine. However, temperatures will be on the cooler side with highs in the upper 50’s and lows dipping down into the 20’s.
