Today will be mostly sunny and warm (but humid) with a high in the mid-80s in advance of our next round of showers and thunderstorms. These will arrive around midnight tonight and could generate severe straight-line winds and perhaps a tornado. This has necessitated a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather to be issued for portions of Southeast Ohio to the west of Athens County, with a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) elsewhere across the region.

Similar temperatures will arise for tomorrow, but cloud cover will persist. During the daytime hours, precipitation potential will back off mostly before another threat of severe thunderstorms materializes during the late evening and overnight hours. There is a Slight Risk of severe weather across the entire area for damaging winds and an isolated tornado. In addition, repeated downpours tonight and tomorrow may cause renewed flooding concerns with the ground already being oversaturated. Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts this weekend.

A few thunderstorms from Sunday may linger into Monday as a cold front passes through, only bringing temperatures down slightly into the low-80s. High pressure takes over on Tuesday, bringing sunnier, drier conditions. This pleasant weather unfortunately won’t last for long, though, as the next system looks to reach the area by Wednesday night.
