We are in for an eventful start to our week here in Athens. Tonight should be quiet, but storms will kick off once the work week begins. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Level 2 Slight Risks for severe weather for an area including Athens and its surroundings for both Monday and Tuesday.

The first round of storms may arrive as early as Monday morning, with another round possible late in the night on Monday into Tuesday, and then another following just behind on Tuesday morning, and then more Tuesday night. We are anticipating the severe weather threat, if any, to be straight-line damaging winds. However, while greater precipitation will likely be northwest of here, with such a conga line of storms, some of those in low lying areas may be at risk of flash flooding. Stay weather aware, especially as the rest of the week will continue to be active it looks like.
