Today, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a SLIGHT(2 out of 5) risk for severe weather.

Spring sure seems to have sprung really early this year with well above average temperatures nearly every week as evidence by the majority of trees already having grown leaves. Today will continue this trend but not without a cost of some rain showers/thunderstorms. Highs today should reach the 80’s with a southerly breeze under partly cloudy skies. By around the 3-5pm timeframe, we should see a developing line of storms sweep through the region hopefully bringing in the much needed rain. Because of the howling Jet stream overhead today, we cannot rule out a damaging wind gust or two. After sundown, a cold front passes through knocking our overnight temperatures into the low 40’s, perhaps even the 30’s. Sunday starts off much cooler with the day’s highs only reaching into the upper 50’s with some passing clouds overhead. Sunday night, our lows really dip down. A low of around 34 is expected but some local hollows and valley’s could see patchy frost overnight Sunday.

Looking into our extended forecast, we will slowly start to see a rebound from Saturday’s storm system. Monday is anticipated to be the last “cool” day before we get back to the highs in the 60’s and 70’s the rest of the week. We will likely see some widespread frost Monday night into Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning there will be a chance for some passing rain showers. Check back for future updates!
