A warm and unsettled pattern will persist through the end of the workweek as a moist and unstable air mass remains in place across southeast Ohio. Skies will vary between mostly cloudy and partly sunny during this period, with daytime heating driving daily chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms. The most active periods appear to be Wednesday afternoon and evening, and again late Thursday into early Friday, as weak disturbances move through the region. Some storms may become strong, with gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall possible, particularly Thursday evening as a more organized line of convection approaches from the west. By Friday, conditions remain warm and humid with additional chances for afternoon thunderstorms. However, a gradual shift in the pattern begins late in the day as a cold front slowly sags southward. This front will bring scattered showers into Saturday morning, followed by a shift in wind direction and drier air filtering into the area. As a result, humidity levels will begin to drop, and skies should begin to clear through the afternoon. By Sunday, high pressure takes hold, bringing a return to mostly sunny skies, noticeably lower humidity, and a more seasonable feel. The air mass behind the departing system will be much more comfortable, offering a break from the previous days’ muggy and storm-prone conditions.
