A flood watch is in place until August 14th at 8:00 am.

The Storm Prediction Center has Athens placed under a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) for tonight, Tuesday, and Tuesday night before downgrading to a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for Wednesday.

The Excessive Rainfall Risk has Athens placed under an elevated risk (level 2 out of 4) for tonight. It will then be upgraded to a significant risk (level 3 out of 4) for Tuesday. For Wednesday and Thursday, it is expected to downgrade back to an elevated risk before downgrading again to a limited risk (level 1 out of 4) for Friday.

Strong winds along with flooding in flood prone and low lying areas is a concern.

Thunderstorms are expected for majority of the rest of the week. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the mid to low 80s. Nighttime temperatures are expected to remain in the low to high 60s. Moderate wind speeds are expected for the next few days.
