The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV has issued a couple warnings and advisories for our area. First, a few flood warnings are in effect until 6:00 and 6:15 PM. These were issued after flood gauges were triggered by excessive rainfall, and local law enforcement noted roadways covered in floodwater. If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around; don’t drown. Floodwaters can seem deceptively shallow so please assume that any water covering a roadway is too deep to pass and find an alternate route. 

There is also a winter weather advisory that has been issued for our area until 7:00 PM. Slippery roads are the main concern and blowing snow could suddenly reduce visibility and cause road conditions to suddenly worsen so be cautious when driving today. 

The rain from the low pressure system moving through our area has officially transitioned to snow, and additional scattered snow showers are expected overnight tonight. A cold front has already moved through the area this morning, leading to a sharp decrease in temperatures that will continue throughout the week. Conditions will stay dry until Tuesday evening when another system moves into our region bringing another round of snow showers with it.

Tuesday it will be partly cloudy with a 50% chance of evening snow showers. Winds at 0 to 5 mph. High 26°F
