Forecast Discussion

The National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia has issued a Flood Watch in effect from February 6, 12:00 PM EST until February 7, 01:00 PM EST.

A trough over the western United States will bring southwesterly flow into the region through tomorrow. This will allow for a surface front to stall near the Ohio River. A plume of moisture will be advected northward towards the frontal boundary. This has prompted a Flood Watch from the National Weather Service. The frontal boundary will move northward through the area on Thursday allowing temperatures to reach the upper 60s and possibly 70. A surface cold front will move through the region Thursday night, bringing another round of rain and much colder conditions. The weekend looks to be clear and dry due to an area of broad high pressure developing behind the passage of this week’s system.
