A broad area of upper-level troughing has brought scattered snow showers to Southeast Ohio today. These snow showers should diminish this evening as strong cold air advection continues. A rather strong pressure gradient and decent mixing will allow for some gusty winds into the overnight. A reinforcing cold front will move through the region late tonight into Wednesday morning. A brief period of snow showers is possible late tonight along the frontal passage. Decent lift and moisture in the dendritic growth zone could lead to up to an inch of accumulation across the region. The winds will continue to be strong into the early morning tomorrow due to the tight pressure gradient and sufficient mixing conditions. Brutally dry air will dominate Wednesday afternoon into Thursday as the Mercury in the thermometers bottom out well below zero Wednesday night. Thursday will be slightly warmer than Wednesday, but anomalously cold none the less. An area of low pressure will move near the Ohio River on Friday, bringing the potential for another round of snow showers. Temperatures will rebound this weekend with the high temperature reaching near 50 on Sunday.
