After enjoying a warm and sunny day yesterday, conditions have taken a turn as that approaching system from the west has finally made its way into our region. Today will bring widespread clouds and periods of rain, with a few heavier bursts possible at times. Because of the steady rainfall, we remain under a Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall, which means some areas could see minor flooding. According to the WPC Rainfall Outlook, we can expect around three-quarters of an inch to an inch of rain before the day is over.

Temperatures this afternoon will reach about 71 degrees, and will slowly fall as the cold front continues to move east. It’s also going to feel blustery, with winds sustained near 15 to 20 mph and gusts approaching 35 mph or stronger at times.

Later tonight, the front will push out of the area, leaving behind a few lingering showers before skies begin to clear by early Monday. Temperatures will dip sharply overnight, bottoming out around 40 degrees by daybreak.

To start the new week, high pressure will begin to build back in, bringing calmer winds and drier conditions through much of Monday and beyond. Another weak cold front is expected to approach sometime Tuesday into Wednesday, which could spark a few light, scattered showers. However, with limited moisture in the atmosphere, rainfall amounts should remain minimal. Cooler, quieter weather will settle in for the middle and latter part of the week.
