Forecast Discussion
After a wet start to May, drier conditions are finally settling in for the weekend after the cold front moved through last night. Daytime highs are down to the upper-60s as cooler air from the north settles in, but temperatures will quickly climb back up into the low-80s by Sunday. An upper-level ridge will promote high-pressure building at the surface aiding in the warming trend. Conditions will remain stagnant as a cut-off low stalls toward the south keeping weather patterns quiet.
However, the low-pressure system will start moving northeast towards the Tennessee Valley come Monday into Tuesday as clouds will begin increasing as moisture transports northward. Rain chances begin Monday night with rain likely heading into Tuesday. An isolated embedded thunderstorm is possible Tuesday evening, but none are severe at this time. Rain chances will continue through Wednesday morning as the cyclone exits the region.
