Tonight it will be cold and rainy as a low pressure system moves south of Athens towards the eastern seaboard. The backside of this system will bring cool temperatures on thanksgiving as well as rain with a steep cooldown beginning overnight and continuing through the rest of the week. Overnight Thursday into early Friday morning some possible snow and ice accumulation is possible and caution should be exercised when considering travel plans. NOAA NWS and local officials provide guidelines for travel consideration in the event this causes significant issues. Unsalted bridges will likely be icy Friday morning. Extra consideration may be required to clear snow and or ice off of vehicles. As we experience frigid lows in the teens scattered bands of lake effect snow may bring flurries throughout Friday and Saturday. Saturday night a weak Alberta clipper is expected to bring additional snow to our area with accumulation totals up to 1″. Following this a second storm brings further snow potential next Wednesday although timing and snowfall amounts are uncertain at this time.
