Forecast Discussion
Today, rain will resume again around 8 pm. Currently, our region is under a Flood Watch for the threat of 1-2 additional inches of rain this evening alongside the 0.68 inches of rain currently recorded earlier today. This rain will continue to fall periodically through early Sunday morning, and will sometimes be heavy as the warm front continues to push in ample moisture. As the cold front moves through the area Sunday morning, a transition from rain to snow is possible around noon as temperatures plummet from the 50s in the early morning to the 30s by the late afternoon. As a few snow showers linger in the afternoon, windy conditions will dominate, and gusts up to 30 mph could be expected. Clouds and wind will continue to persist through the night. As more normal pressure returns on Sunday, a few breaks in the clouds in the afternoon are to be expected, though temperatures will be cold at a high of 30 degrees.
Next week will remain cold as more arctic air is funneled into the region. Cloudy skies will continue to persist as well, and a low pressure system further south could return snow to the area on Wednesday, with accumulations between 1-3 inches. While the track and intensity of this system is still unclear, travel disruptions could be possible. By Thursday, temperatures will be quite cold in the mid 20s, and a few snow showers could still linger in the area.
