Forecast Discussion
As a ridge in the jet stream dominates the upper atmosphere conditions for the eastern side of the country, calm and mostly clear skies will persist at the surface. This ridge aloft is creating high pressure to the Northeast which is the driving force for high pressure and calm weather in the Athens area. These conditions are expected to continue throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend as well as high temperatures in the low 80s for the next couple days. For an extended forecast into this weekend, this high pressure will be replaced with a low pressure system. A cold front is also expected to pass through with this low pressure system and will bring chances of rain Sunday afternoon and into next Monday.
