We’re heading into a more unsettled stretch of weather as we head into a midweek disturbance.

For today, expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures warming into the mid-70s. Part of the day should remain dry, but the combination of clouds, warmer temperatures, and increasing moisture could allow a few scattered showers to develop during the afternoon. Winds will stay fairly light from the northeast around 5–10 mph with occasional gusts near 20 mph.

Clouds will stick around tonight, and rain chances increase overnight as a more organized system begins approaching from the west. Rain may develop toward the overnight hours and into early morning. Temperatures will stay mild with lows around the mid-60s.

Wednesday looks to be the wettest part of the forecast. Cloudy skies will continue as showers and thunderstorms become much more widespread through the day. The Storm Predicition Center has issued a slight risk for our area. Remain alert to the possibility of severe weather throughout the day Wednesday. Some storms may bring heavier downpours at times. Despite the rain, temperatures will still reach the upper 70s. Winds remain from the southwest around 5–10 mph with gusts up to about 25 mph.

By Wednesday night, showers should gradually taper off as the system moves east. However, clouds will linger and a few light showers may still be possible into the late evening. Behind the system, cooler air moves in quickly, dropping temperatures to around 40° by morning. Winds will shift to the north and may become a bit gusty overnight.

Overall, expect increasing clouds today, more widespread rain and storms Wednesday, and then a sharp cool down by Wednesday night.
