Forecast Discussion
Currently, there is a severe weather threat expected tomorrow, but luckily, that threat is low, at least for SE Ohio. A Slight Risk of Severe Weather (2/5) is expected in the very southwestern part of the state (Cincinnati down towards Huntington, WV) while Athens County itself is on the border between a Marginal Risk (1/5) and No Risk. The main area of focus for severe weather will be Tennessee, Northern Alabama, Northern Mississippi, and Southern Kentucky, where an Enhanced Risk (3/5) is expected. The severe weather and general thunderstorms are being driven by a low pressure system, which will mainly bring about scattered showers and thunderstorms from tomorrow through Thursday. Thursday in particular will be slightly chilly as a broad trough hangs over the eastern US (hence the low pressure system). Windier conditions will also be present on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday might also see a chance of rain, though the odds are low. Saturday will be the day that we finally see less cloud cover (apart from tonight) and some more pleasant conditions.
So for the high temperatures, tomorrow will be in the upper 60s, Wednesday and Saturday will be in the low 70s, Thursday will be in the upper 50s, and Friday will be in the low 60s. Low temperatures will be in the low 50s tonight and Wednesday night, upper 50s tomorrow night, and in the low to mid 40s for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
