Forecast Discussion
Sunny skies are expected today, keeping temperatures quite warm before tomorrow’s system brings the chance for severe weather. The SPC has put Athens under a Slight Risk for severe weather (2/5) for Saturday; these storms will likely fire off in the evening, tapering off overnight into Sunday. The main threat tomorrow seems to be damaging wind gusts and hail, but nothing too much during these storms. After this system moves past the region, colder air will follow close behind, dropping temperatures back down into the lower-60s Sunday and Monday. With fairly breezy conditions expected for the start of the week, these chillier temperatures may feel slightly cooler than they actually are. Otherwise, calmer weather is expected next week, though we may see our next chance for rain come Wednesday.
