Due to our consistent chances for rain, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens and the surrounding counties. This will be in effect until 1 pm today as excessive runoff will contribute to flooding of streams, rivers, and other low-lying areas. Also keep watch for ponding of water on roadways in low-lying areas.
They have also extended our Flood Warning until 5:30 pm. Due to the Shade River (specifically the portion in Chester) entering minor flood stage and many streams, creeks, and low-lying areas are currently flooding.

We will reach the upper 60s today with a high of around 68, unfortunately we will still have a high chance for rain as the system that has been causing our stretch of rain this week will continue to sit over us. Tomorrow, we will get into the mid-70s with rain possible in the late morning and early afternoon hours.

This weekend will start off with summer-like temperatures on Saturday and more rain as a cold front will be entering our region, bumping us into the 60s to end the weekend and begin the week next week.
