Forecast Discussion
We continue to be under an Excessive Heat Warning today, and it has been extended. It will now expire Saturday at 8 pm. Remember to drink plenty water, wear loose fitting clothing, and take plenty of breaks in the AC if working outside.
Today we can expect the heat to continue with a high of around 95 degrees with a heat index of around 100 degrees. We can expect the heat wave to begin to subside as a system begins to make its way into our area from the north. This will cause a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening on Saturday. We are under a Slight Risk (2/5) for severe weather tomorrow with the main threat of locally high wind gusts in imbedded thunderstorms. These showers and storms may impact any 4th of July celebrations.
The showers and thunderstorms will continue into Sunday and next week. This has prompted the Storm Prediction Center to put us in a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe weather on Sunday. This will bring us a much needed break from the dry conditions.
