If you have the capability to tonight, make sure you try and view the total lunar eclipse tonight! The entirety of North America will be in view of this eclipse, and thankfully it will be safe to view this event without the need for eclipse glasses! Ohio is incredibly lucky to have very minimal cloud cover overnight, so make sure you find a space with minimal light pollution to watch this event if you can! As mentioned in our morning forecast, the eclipse will begin at 11:57 p.m. tonight. Totality will begin by 2:26 a.m tomorrow morning and will last until 6 a.m.!

NWS Charleston has put Athens under a hazardous weather outlook for tomorrow. There is a heightened risk for wildfires Friday because of low humidity, gusty winds, and warm temperatures. Please follow state regulations regarding lighting fires.

Saturday there is a slight risk (2/5) of severe weather Saturday in Athens. An advancing cold front from an intensifying low-pressure system will move over the Ohio Valley Saturday night into Sunday. Gusty and rainy conditions will persist into the overnight hours from this cold front, and there is a possibility of thunderstorms rolling through as well. The main threat from this system so fair will be heavy rain and damaging winds. Please stay weather aware these upcoming days for any future developments for this system. Thankfully, by Monday high-pressure will fill in. Skies are expected to clear with calmer conditions to follow.
