Forecast Discussion

Showers and thunderstorms will continue for today and Monday morning, with multiple rounds of rain. Severe thunderstorms are possible today. This is due to daytime heating and an abundance of moisture in the atmosphere. This inputs a slight risk for severe thunderstorms, rating as a level 2 out of 5. Storms are possible this morning, afternoon, and late tonight heading into Monday morning. The strongest storms will be seen this afternoon, around 2:00 p.m.

A slight risk for excessive rainfall is also in effect today, rating as a level 2 out of 4. Damaging wind gusts and flooding remain primary safety concerns today. Heavy downpours are possible, and our grounds are already very saturated. These downpours and ongoing runoff will continue flooding concerns heading into Monday morning, also warranting the flood watch continuing until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. 

Our break in the rain will come tomorrow! A cold front will pass through in the morning, and any lingering showers will move out by noon. Clear skies are seen Monday afternoon onward, until Wednesday morning. Cloud coverage will pick up Wednesday afternoon, with a passing rain shower possible Wednesday night. A mix of sun and clouds will be seen from Thursday onward, which is a perfect start for Ohio University’s Welcome Week and move in days. The next round of rain will come late Friday into Saturday.
