Forecast Discussion
Tomorrow will be the last day in the 70s for quite a while as a strong system pushes eastward Sunday evening into Monday morning. The SPC has put Athens in a marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather for tomorrow, but this system will likely occur during the early morning hours on Monday. This system will continue cooling temperatures overnight Sunday into Monday, resulting in our daytime high on Monday to occur very early in the morning. Temperatures will only continue to plummet Monday as two waves of bitterly cold air sweep over the state, dropping our temperatures into the lower-30s as a result. With gusty winds blowing alongside these chilly temperatures, please make sure you bundle up Monday and Tuesday if you have any outdoor plans. After Tuesday afternoon, conditions will calm down significantly for the foreseeable future, leaving temperatures to hover around the 40s and 50s into the coming week and weekend.
