Forecast Discussion
Currently, there’s a low pressure system on the way into the region, which is expected to hit tomorrow night after some isolated rain showers today. While you’re ringing in the new year, we’re expecting a winter system to make its way through the region, beginning in 2023 and the system won’t end until all the way until 2024! (Around two in the morning). Combined with being one of the most dangerous nights to drive, this winter system will likely cause roads to be much more dangerous, so be careful when driving home from your New Year’s festivities!
After this, we’ll see a calmer span of weather, but will still be very cold and well below freezing at night. Then, Wednesday night it looks like we’ll be on the receiving end of another wintry system. As of now, models are resolving this system as freezing rain, but stay tuned to Scalia Lab’s forecast over the next few days because these types of systems are dynamic and change on the models frequently.
Happy New Year!
