Technical Forecast Discussion

Short Term (Thursday 10-20-22 through Sunday 10-23-22)

Drier air has begun to filter in behind the cut-off low pressure that has pushed out of the region, providing semi-warmer temperatures today. Southwesterly winds are quite breezy ahead of an upper trough that will dig into the area later tonight, but no precipitation is anticipated as the surface high pressure will keep things dry. This same pattern continues to end the work week and into the weekend, with 2m AGL temperature anomaly models showing temperatures between 5-10 degrees above average. River valley fog will be possible as skies clear during the overnight hours. It will be a beautiful weekend and a great day for football on Saturday here in Athens, so make sure to get outside!

Long Term (Monday 10-24-22 through Thursday 10-27-22)

Not much will change with the weather pattern until late next week as of now, with models showing a low pressure developing out in the Rockies, and making it’s way east across the U.S. This will more than likely drive a cold front through the area, but the timing and how much precipitation associated with it is still uncertain.
