With high pressure settling in over the forecast region, conditions will remain mostly clear and warm for the next 48 hours. Residual moisture from the dissipating low level jet will persist throughout the remainder of the weekend, which could allow for pop-up afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday. However, given the strength of the high pressure system, chances for rain showers to occur are low. By Monday evening, the leading edge of a low pressure system swinging down over the Great Lakes Region will push more mid-level moisture in from the Northwest, which will in turn increase the chances for precipitation. On Tuesday, as the low begins to pass over the Ohio Valley, the chance for rain showers and thunderstorms will be at their greatest. Due to the low’s proximity to the Bermuda High out over the Atlantic, the system will stall out and continue to dump precipitation across the region through Wednesday. By Thursday morning, the system will dissipate and allow high pressure to build in once again, returning sunny skies and warm temperatures to the forecast for the remainder of the work week.
