Technical Forecast Discussion
Short-term Forecast (Sunday Night 8/20/23 through Wednesday Night 8/23/23):
A strong high-pressure area to our west will stay put all week. This means it will be really hot, with temperatures going well above normal, hitting the upper 90s by the end of the week.
Expect mostly clear skies, except for Monday and Monday night when a weak cold front passes through, bringing a bit of cloudiness. This will slightly lower temperatures on Tuesday, just below 90 degrees, but it will still be very warm. Tuesday will be sunny again. On Wednesday, a warm front will pass, causing a bit more cloud cover for the next few days. But overall, it will still be mostly sunny. Daytime highs will be in the low 90s, dropping to the upper 60s at night.
Long-term Forecast (Thursday 8/24/23 through Sunday 8/27/23):
Thursday will have some clouds, and temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s due to the persistent high pressure. Because of the humid air from Wednesday’s warm front, it will feel even hotter, with “feels-like” temperatures going beyond 100s on Thursday afternoon. Friday will be similarly hot, with temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indices above 100 degrees.
But there’s good news. A weak cold front will come through on Friday night, bringing a few light showers and cooler, drier air. This will make Saturday more comfortable, with temperatures going back to the low 80s. This pleasant weather will continue into Sunday, ending the week on a more pleasant note.
