Kicking off our winter solstice and the first day of astronomical winter, pressure remains high as our cloud cover increases as the night progresses. Tonight, expect more clouds to move in after a pop up shower or two in the early evening. Tomorrow morning will see mostly overcast conditions though still relatively calm, with a high in the lower 50s. A stationary front hangs in upper Ohio throughout the rest of this working week as well, creating these gloomier conditions. Friday evening will remain in similar conditions, and so will Saturday by proxy. However, a low pressure system will have matured by then, which will deliver rain to our area beginning midday Saturday and into Sunday along a warm front.

The weekend rain will taper off around early Sunday, but conditions remain overcast. Another midlatitude cyclone will move in behind the previous one, beginning showers late Monday and into Tuesday. Preliminary accumulations could total to an inch, so this year, be ready for a wet Christmas. Throughout this time as well, temperatures remain warmer, in the high 50s, creating some unseasonable winter conditions to be sure.
