Forecast Discussion
An area of high pressure will dominate today and tonight before widespread rain moves into the region on Wednesday. A surface cold front will stall over Southeast Ohio Wednesday into Thursday leading to repeated rounds of heavy rain. A surface low pressure system will move northward along the cold front Thursday night, bringing even more rain to the area. Current models have a widespread 2-3″ across Central and Southeast Ohio by Thursday night. Given the rather saturated ground, this rain has the potential to lead to flooding in poor drainage areas. A flood watch has not been issued yet by the National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, but a hazardous weather outlook with the potential for an upgrade to a flood watch has been issued. Friday has the potential for some left-over rain showers as some moisture lingers around behind the cold front. Friday and Saturday should be below average in the temperature department, but a slight warming trend is expected Sunday before our next weather system impacts the area early next week.
