Forecast Discussion

Abundant low-level moisture will remain high through mid-morning, leading to low clouds and areas of fog. A stray morning shower is possible, mainly along the Ohio River as the remnants from Hurricane Florence continue to move to the east. Clouds will decrease this afternoon, leading to mostly sunny skies. An upper-level ridge coupled with surface high pressure will start to move over the region this afternoon and dominate through the end of the work week. Summer like conditions with high temperatures well above average will be the headline the next couple of days. An afternoon “summer” thunderstorm is possible any day this week, but coverage is not expected to be widespread any day. The upper-level ridge will slowly move to the south and east towards the end of the week. A shortwave trough will move through the rather zonal upper-level flow on Friday, bringing a cold front through the region and an increased chance for rain. Rain chances will linger throughout the weekend into early next week with temperatures slightly below normal.
