Forecast Discussion

A surface frontal boundary is currently located over Kentucky and southern West Virginia. This will serve as a focus for precipitation through the early afternoon, keeping much of the precipitation south of the Ohio River. A shortwave trough will approach the region tonight, bringing the better chance for precipitation across the region. The precipitation should generally be light and fall as all snow. Snow accumulations of a coating to an inch can be expected. High pressure will build into the region Thursday before a cold front moves through the region Thursday night. This front will bring another chance of light snow. After the front passes, high pressure will build into the region Friday. A storm system approaching from the west needs to be monitored for the second half of the weekend. Current models keep the majority of the precipitation just to the south.
