Forecast Discussion

A low-pressure system that initially originated in Northern Canada that has made its way across the the CONUS throughout much of yesterday is forecasted to impact Athens by this afternoon. This clipper will bring along likely chances of snow as this frigid front will bring in cold air, making temperatures to be significantly colder today (and especially in tonight) as this system forces its way across our region. This system will become the strongest into the night, as temperatures quickly drop and bring snow tonight. Tomorrow morning, much of the clipper system will have already passed and allow for clearer skies from slight ridging. However, temperatures will still remain cold tomorrow and Sunday (although Sunday is expected to be warmer than Friday). So don’t put away the winter coats just yet, especially when temperatures dip in the night! However, sun and clouds are expected to continue from Saturday until next week and temperatures to rise!
