Today will see partly cloudy weather with temperatures finally above freezing, at around 42 degrees. Quite strong high pressure has moved into the region, but over the span of the day, it will begin to subtly drop as it moves more eastward. More clouds will develop overnight, becoming completely overcast in the morning hours of Tuesday. This is due to an approaching low pressure system that will not only deliver more rain over the span of the week, but spur on a tremendous warm spell for much of the eastern United States. Rain will not arrive until the later afternoon into evening hours of Tuesday, and even then it will be quite light and scattered.

More rain could arrive in quick spurts over the span of the night, potentially at midnight and then again around the morning hours of Wednesday. Rain remains scattered throughout Wednesday as well, though a more steady, accumulating rain will develop overnight into Thursday, with accumulations around half an inch. Throughout Thursday, a few scattered showers may be possible, but for the most part, much of the rain will have passed through. Quite notably, temperatures will dramatically increase to 60 degrees by Thursday, which is quite unusual for late-January.
