On Monday, high pressure will stick around through the afternoon allowing for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low-40s. However, a negatively tilted trough associated with a strong, occluded low will track northeast towards the midwest. The NWS in Charleston, West Virginia has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook associated with this strong system. Periods of heavy rain are likely throughout the day on Tuesday with gusty winds up to 40 mph. Rain amounts of one to two inches locally are possible with this system. Temperatures on Tuesday will reach the low to mid-50s due to the warm front moving through Tuesday morning bringing warm, moist southerly flow to the north. A cold front will move through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, bringing cold air advection behind the system. Therefore, there is a chance of a rain/snow mix Tuesday night transitioning to snow late Wednesday morning into the early afternoon.

A broad ridge will move through on Thursday bringing a brief break in the rain, but another system will make its way to the Ohio Valley on Friday very similar to the track of the first system. Rain is most likely throughout Friday with some snow possible over the weekend behind the cold front. Future forecasts will update on this low-pressure system as the weekend gets closer.
