Today will be a last breath of fresh, clear air, before rain will be in the forecast for an extended period of time. Some popup showers around SE Ohio are currently noted on the Charleston, WV radar, one of which may impact Athens during the morning. Once these clear out, partly cloudy skies will remain for the rest of the day with highs in the mid 80s and then mid 60s low temperatures tonight. The passage of the cold front will also bring the possibility of patchy fog during the early morning hours tomorrow.

Tuesday begins the rainy weather pattern as a frontal boundary stalls just south of Ohio. The boundary will hove near the same location for most of the week, bringing multiple chances for rain showers and thunderstorms, and extended periods of moderate rainfall. The more it rains, the higher the chance of flooding and flash flooding gets. So, keep an eye on the rivers and roads each day and remember, turn around, don’t drown. Each day, high temperatures will struggle to reach the high 70s and lows will remain around the mid 60s as constant clouds will keep the surface cool during the day, and trap heat during the night.
