Forecast Discussion

The area is now under the influence of an upper level trough, bringing chances for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms today. By later this evening, precipitation should dissipate, and patchy fog will develop overnight and into Tuesday morning. An upper level cut off low is projected to form over the lower Mississippi Valley, along with upper level ridging taking place in the continental U.S. This will continue to influence isolated to scattered shower and thunderstorm chances mainly for Wednesday as moisture from the gulf filters in. Tuesday should be a mainly dry day, as precipitation will remain mainly in the higher elevations. For Wednesday night through Friday, shower and thunderstorm chances will increase once again as the cut off low merges with upper level troughing. There still remains a slight chance for showers on Saturday, but mainly dry conditions look likely now to end the week.
