A rainy day is in store for our first official day of fall and we can expect these conditions throughout the week. On the bright side, we will begin a cooling trend as we will see highs in the 70s throughout the week. Today will likely be our only day that passes 80 degrees with a high of 81. We can expect a mostly dry morning; however, an isolated shower is not completely out of the picture. By the afternoon, we can expect more widespread showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two. The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe weather today with our main threat being higher wind gusts at times during imbedded thunderstorms. Along with this, we are also under a Marginal Risk (1/4) for excessive rainfall.

Much of the same types of conditions are expected throughout the week with scattered to widespread showers and possibly a thunderstorm are present in the extended forecast. Due to us being in a D1 (Moderate) Drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the ground is not prepared for typical rainfalls let alone a weeks worth of rain, and localized flooding is possible throughout the week.
