Forecast Discussion

Athens County is under a moderate risk for excessive rainfall and already saturated soils will increase the risk of excessive runoff of rivers and streams. This means numerous flash floods are likely, and because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County. This will be in effect until late Sunday night. For more information, see the NWS website.

Outside of the rain, today we can expect temperatures to get into the low 40s and they will continue to rise throughout the night, getting well into the 50s overnight tonight and giving us a high in the mid 50s tomorrow morning; however, temperatures will fall as the day progresses as a cold front will come through in the morning. The rain will continue on Sunday, but will transition to snow showers in the afternoon. All precipitation will clear by Sunday night leading to a cloudy but chilly night. We will see a break from the rain and snow until mid-week when another system will come through.
