Forecast Discussion
A low pressure system currently located over central Illinois is attached to a stationary front stretched east-to-west just south of the Ohio/Kentucky border. This low pressure system and attendant front is the source of this morning’s rain and will be the source for the multiple chances of rain over the next few days. The low pressure system and front will move abnormally slow to the northeast, bringing chances of prolonged periods of rain and thunderstorms from Saturday until Monday night. The greatest chance for heavy rain will be on Sunday where the Weather Prediction Center has Ohio under a slight risk of excessive rainfall, meaning flooding will be a risk. The clouds and rain will keep highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s for this period.
The low pressure system will finally race out to the Atlantic Monday night and high pressure will begin to fill in. During this time, warmer temperatures with clear skies is expected. Temperatures will then slowly become hot by midweek.
