As the strong high pressure system sits mostly stationary over the southwestern U.S., the upper-level ridge will continue to influence the weather here in Ohio. Moisture being drawn around the system along with strong instability due to the warm and unstable airmass will contribute to showers and thunderstorms over the ridge and moving into our region. The SPC has issued a Marginal Risk for severe weather today. The threats with this setup are mainly damaging wind gusts and hail possible, and the tornado threat is not a concern at this time due to an overall lack of wind shear needed for tornadic weather.

Moving from the end of the weekend into the beginning of the week, a weak cold front will sweep the region tonight into tomorrow, providing the forcing necessary to cause some showers and thunderstorms. This will also cool temperatures off into the mid-80s to start off the week and provide some relief from the heat we have had lately. Heading into the middle of the week, high pressure at the surface will dominate the region, keeping things clear and dry for the time being. Temperatures are anticipated to slowly warm again with this high pressure system, possibly reaching into the high 80s by midweek.
