Forecast Discussion

As a low pressure system begins to affect the southeast Ohio region, showers and thunderstorms will be a threat today. Locally heavy rainfall may be a concern in some low-lying areas due to rain already accumulating during the overnight hours. Precipitation chances will gradually dissipate after the associated cold front pushes southward tonight. Some showers and storms may linger in the area on Sunday as a shortwave disturbance moves through the longwave pattern aloft. The storm prediction center currently has some far southeastern Ohio counties under a marginal risk for severe weather on Sunday, depending on if some models are accurate in a system arriving from the west. For now, dry conditions can be expected for much of the next week as high pressure at the surface begins to take control.
