Forecast Discussion

Scattered showers have started to develop early this morning, and will continue to increase throughout the day as an upper level trough moves in from the west. Thunderstorm chances this morning are minimal, but the chance still remains for later this afternoon and into the evening; however, no severe storms are expected. Heavy downpours may be possible with showers with up to an inch of rain possible in thunderstorms. For the long term, a low pressure system and associated cold front will become cut off, which will limit thunderstorm development on Monday and Tuesday. The low is expected to meander back to the north along the Mississippi Valley Wednesday into Thursday, which should keep storm activity mostly to the west. Moisture from the gulf will however still remain in the area throughout most of the work week, providing daily shower chances and a few isolated thunderstorms.
