Forecast Discussion

A cold front extending off a low pressure system to our north will deliver the chance for some rain and possibly some strong thunderstorms before 9pm this evening. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Athens and surrounding counties due to the chance of some of these storms to be severe. The main concerns are the chance for some damaging winds, hail, and heavy downpours. Luckily, this system will move through quickly allowing for cloud coverage to clear overnight and the return of high pressure and sunny skies. As a result of this passing front, temperatures will be noticeably cooler tomorrow and for much of the rest of the work week with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and overnight lows in the 40s.
