Forecast Discussion

The current pattern that has brought somewhat hot temperatures and mostly sunny conditions is expected to persist for the first part of this week. High pressure at the surface is continuing to pump hot air and some moisture into our region as it sits over the eastern Tennessee Valley. Temperatures are expected to reach the low-to-mid 90s this week, and some drying is expected with relative humidity dropping possibly into the low 30s this week despite some excess moisture further north. This will hopefully mean somewhat comfortable conditions despite the heat.

As we head into the last half of the work week, a shortwave trough is expected to move through this upper-level ridge that is supporting the high pressure and move over our region. This trough will form a low-pressure system to our north, and a cold front is anticipated on Wednesday into early Thursday. At this time, we are only expecting rain and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder with this system, but we will be keeping an eye on it as the event gets closer and monitoring for any possibility of severe weather.
