Hazardous Weather Outlook

High pressure will keep the area mainly dry for today before clouds begin to increase ahead of a warm front and mid-latitude cyclone approaching from the west. Temperatures will rise into the 60s ahead of the front on Friday, along with the chance for showers developing tonight and possible thunderstorms by Friday evening. Light rain showers can be expected during the day Friday before heavier rainfall and potential thunderstorms becomes a threat Friday night associated with a strong cold front. Some thunderstorms may have the chance to become severe as a decent amount of instability and forcing will be available ahead of the cold front. From this, the SPC has issued a marginal threat for damaging winds for our area overnight Friday into Saturday morning. High pressure will build in on Saturday night, bringing an end to the precipitation. Temperatures will remain in the 60s through Saturday before falling below freezing Saturday night. For the long term, high pressure will remain situated in our area for most of next week until the next cold front brings a chance for showers.
