A shortwave trough moving through the region along with moisture from the Gulf is going to be the cause for continuing rain showers with a lingering stationary front. Showers will likely taper off around midnight as the occluded surface low makes its way off to our northeast. Friday, high pressure will build in providing some drier weather, but clouds will likely stick around for the day. The warm front will thankfully bring the daytime high to around 58 today. The National Weather Service Flood Watch is still in effect until 4 AM tomorrow. This is due to excessive rainfall from yesterday and today as well as snowmelt and ice jams in rivers causing a hazard for flooding, especially in creeks, rivers, and low-lying flood-prone areas.

The next system is also coming up from the Gulf and is expected to become occluded by the time it reaches our region. This system will once again bring plenty of moisture into the region that will fuel rain through the weekend heading into the beginning of next week. A back door cold front is expected to move in behind that system dropping the daytime high down to 40 with a subfreezing overnight low which could cause some snow flurries Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
