Upper level ridging and surface high pressure has been keeping weather quiet for much of the week; however, this pattern will soon change as a series of shortwave disturbances is expected to move through the ridging pattern. This will provide chances for showers and thunderstorms beginning Friday. A surface cold front is then expected to move through on Saturday associated with a low pressure system, but temperatures will still stay on the warm side as upper ridging will remain strong despite the shortwaves.
